Dr. Clint Waltz, Extension Turfgrass Specialist at UGA, was recently awarded a grant from the UGA CAES Agricultural Experiment Stations to provide ten County Extension Agents with the equipment to explore podcasting as a means of turfgrass education delivery. An in-service training was held in Griffin on December 11th to familiarize agents with iPod technology. |

The training included iPod 101: how to interface with the equipment, how to use i-Tunes and RSS feeds, and how to set up subscriptions. Faith Peppers with the UGA Office of Communication taught Agents how to make timely public service announcements that could be used in a variety of ways including radio spots or audio files for UGA web sites. Dr. Waltz is currently working on turfgrass podcasts that will be released in 2008 at GeorgiaTurf.com. The podcasts will be available for public access and may be viewed from any computer with an internet connection, or downloaded to a portable MP3 player such as an iPod. Now you can take your education with you and possibly write off that shiny new iPod you received for Christmas as a legitimate business expense. |
